Broker Referral Program - How it works!

  • 1. Attend Product Overview - 1 Hour

    Attend a product overview on the Defined Contribution Plan, either a webinar with other brokers or one on one with Heartland Benefits.  This takes less than 1 hour.


    Bonus tip!  Quote the Defined Contribution Plan for 5 groups of 10 or more lives during the Q4 Quoting Special and also receive a $100 reimbursement of a NABIP-WI Annual Membership!  

  • 2. Book Joint Employer Presentation

    Book at minimum, one joint employer presentation with Heartland Benefits for the Defined Contribution Plan.  This can be either in person or online.  

  • 3. Get contracted with Companion Life

    Get contracted with Companion Life, Heathiest You, and Allstate Identity Protection with your first SOLD Defined Contribution Plan group through Heartland Benefits Brokerage.  

  • 4. Sell 5 groups and 50 Lives

    Mininum of 5 groups and 50 lives required for referrals on an annual basis.  


    Heartland Benefits has relationships with many Chamber of Commerces, associations and other marketing and distribution points where employers are seeking our Defined Contribution Plan coverage.  


    As a referral broker, after we meet with the group and they agree to enroll in the Defind Contribution Plan, we will engage a referral broker to become the BOR and service the group.  As a referral broker and the BOR, you will receive 100% of the commission for the Defined Contribution Plan benefits.  


    Referral Brokers will be chosen on a rotating basis and you can either accept or decline the group.  If declined, it goes to the next referral broker.  

  • 5. Medical Insurance

    If the group wants Medical Insurance or if they have it and want to change brokers, you will be the BOR receiving 100% of the agent/broker commission.


    For groups under 25 lives, you can quote and place them with ANY carrier that fits their needs best.  


    For groups over 25 lives, we require you to quote a level-funded plan with Heartland Benefits to compare with the other quotes you receive for the group.  You will still be the BOR and can place the group with ANY carrier that fits their needs, but we do require you at least quote our level-funded health product and give it consideration.
